Without consciousness, for us, nothing exists. Your consciousness is the foundation of every experience you have.
It is very difficult for people to agree about things as everyone is seeing the world in a different way. This is because of the nature of each individual’s consciousness.
What is consciousness? It is so fundamental, yet, by and large, we wander around in life without enquiring into the nature of our consciousness, and completely ignoring it.
There are so many universities everywhere, but where is the department of consciousness? What is your theory of consciousness? Where does it come from? What is it made of?
The purpose of Chaitanya Academy is to explore these questions deeply, find answers and to help people to understand their nature at a deep inner level, based on spiritual awareness of oneself and not on external mental constructions. Our paradigm is based on the ancient sacred texts such as the Upanisads, Vedanta and Bhagavad-gita.
We study yoga as a phenomenon at Chaitanya Academy through psychology, philosophy and the history of yoga. The word yoga means ‘connection’ because it allows us to connect the individual consciousness with the Divine consciousness. We don’t focus on the physical side of yoga, but on meditation. Meditation allows one to achieve peace of heart, peace of mind, to have purity of thoughts and to make a connection with God. This is the true purpose of yoga. We are now in a position to make a complete synthesis of science, religion, philosophy and psychology in order to have a very clear vision of life so that people from all backgrounds and all religions can practice meditation and overcome many internal traumas and problems.
The highest yoga system described in the Bhagavad-gita is bhakti-yoga, or the practice of loving service to God. This practice effectively and quickly purifies the mind, allowing us to overcome the perception of ourselves as this physical body and realize our true spiritual form that is filled with joy and bliss.
Chaitanya Academy members practice bhakti-yoga as it is described in the ancient scriptures. We are interested in scientific discovery and treat all other religions with respect.
